Our sunscreen also protects against UVA with an index of 9.6. UVA are the ultraviolet A rays responsible for premature aging of the skin. The SPF of our sun cream was determined by an in vivo test according to the current standard ISO 24444. It is therefore a question of comparing the Minimum Erythemal Dose (MED) of protected skin to that of skin without protection. DEM is the lowest dose of ultraviolet causing pain. The difference in DEMs will help determine the SPF of the sunscreen. The protection index is complex, and can be difficult to understand. To summarize, if a person is exposed without protection and gets sunburned after 10 minutes, an SPF15 sunscreen will multiply this time by 15. So if the person is exposed this time with SPF 15 protection, they will have the same sunburn but only after 150 minutes (10 minutes x 15).
