The drama appears from the beginning, implicit in this novel which depicts the idyllic life of a close-knit family. The betrayal of the mother and the separation of the parents are evoked through the eyes of a rebellious teenager, torn from a dream life. Prudence must rebuild herself in a universe that is totally foreign to her. The novel recounts this time of wandering and fragility, with the memory of a life of travel and adventure, which gradually fades to give way to the resilience of the heroine and her family.
