The Charles Oxford London Dry Gin has existed locally in Karlsruhe in the in-house “Oxford Café” or “Charles Oxford Burgers and Beer” as an in-house premium gin for several years: On the open market, however, the Charles Oxford Gin is still an absolute novelty and only available from very few specialist dealers. It is produced in Karlsruhe according to its own recipe and in very small individual batches. So small that the labeling of the bottle and batch number is still done by hand. Nosing: As soon as the bottle is opened, a wonderful, very floral smell spreads in the nose. So benevolent that one can almost think of a perfume rather than a spirit. After this floral note, one can also perceive distinct aromas of coriander, ginger and lemon zest. Start: The nosing promises what it does: At the start, the Charles Oxford Gin welcomes you with a distinct taste of coriander and the slight spiciness that comes from the ginger used. This is followed by a concise and clear juniper note, which is also accompanied by a certain fruitiness of the juniper berries and a mixture of different citrus fruits (lemon, orange, grapefruit). It is particularly interesting that this fruitiness goes hand in hand without adding a distinct sweetness, as is the case with most other gins. So here you get a fruity-tart gin with an exciting and distinct herbal component, which is mainly accompanied by coriander and ginger.
