Marshmallow

Marshmallow is cultivated both as a medicinal plant, for its therapeutic properties, and as an ornamental plant, for its pretty flowers. Like the poppy, the marshmallow was used in confectionery. Its roots, rich in mucilage, were used until a few years ago to make the famous candy. Today, replaced by gelatin, marshmallow remains very popular for its many virtues.
