This unique shawl is made from Tussah silk. It is a kind of wild silk that is obtained as Faire Seide / Peace Silk. In contrast to conventional silk processing, the caterpillars that spin the silk cocoons continue their life after metamorphosis as moths. Tussah silk has a special "grainy" surface. The fabric feels crisp and gets softer with wear. The naturally golden shimmer of the silk can be seen in the undyed areas. The design was created using the block printing technique, in which carved blocks of wood are used to transfer the desired pattern onto the textile surface. It is an old traditional printing technique in India. The yarn was spun by hand and processed into a scarf on hand looms. The weave is fine and noble.
