 Even if you have children who often scurry around in different places and always have to have their toys with them, Majalengka is a practical helper in everyday life thanks to the two handles.   With the simple mix of seagrass (top half) and banana fiber (bottom half), Majalengka blends harmoniously into any environment.    Majalengka is also available in white. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------- Mass weight: Length x width x height (without handles) S: 20x20x25cm; 0.54kg M: 33x33x26cm; 0.95kg L: 47x42x27cm; 1.40kg Our products are artfully crafted unique pieces.   Due to hand manufacturing and natural variations in materials, they may vary slightly in size, color and shape. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------- Main materials: seagrass, banana fiber Our baskets are made from plant fibers.   They therefore smell and feel wonderfully natural.    What basket makers usually call “seagrass” is actually not an (under)water plant, but a small, palm-like plant that is widespread on sandy beaches in the tropics of Asia.   The leaves of plants often cultivated by humans are separated, cut into strips, dried and then further processed by hand.    Banana fiber is the fibers of the layered trunks of agriculturally used banana trees.   The intense brown color occurs naturally when the fibers are dried under the sun for about a week.   The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic, approximately 6 mm thick strands.   Only old, dying banana trees are used for this material.   This gives these crops a second life as a dimensionally stable and robust starting material for many handmade baskets here at Soeji.
