The Lost Tea Company work closely and exclusively with smallholder farmers in Myanmar. We source organically grown drinking teas and the iconic Lahpet, edible fermented Burmese tea leaves, both of which have won Great Taste Awards in 2020 & 2021!

We provide an ethical platform for the international sale of these Shan teas, aiming to share its appreciation and garner well deserved attention for Myanmar’s teas in the most sustainable way possible.

As firm supporters of the UN Global Goals initiative, The Lost Tea Company strives for sustainability in every area of the company. This includes the physical environment of the plantations, establishing fair purchasing prices and limiting our use of single use plastics.

Myanmar’s delicious edible fermented tea, known as Lahpet, has been enjoyed across the country for centuries. Lahpet is the delectable essential ingredient in the iconic national dish Lahpet Thoke, a tea leaf salad, and is aptly described by Thazin Han as 'Lord Of The Leaves'!

Bursting with antioxidants Lahpet is a healthy and tasty addition to a range of dishes, with it’s unique and delicious umami flavour. This versatile product can also happily be eaten on it’s own as a snack.

At the heart of The Lost Tea Company is Pindaya, located in southern Shan State, Myanmar. Our tea is farmed in the hills surrounding the town by a cluster of smallholder farmers who possess exceptional tea growing knowledge.

This expertise in everything tea, has been developed over generations of living and farming in the area, with the leaves being dried and fermented in local factories.

Having worked with these family run farms over a number of years and forming a strong relationship we moved the headquarters of our operation into the town of Pindaya.

The Lost Tea Company has a presence in the UK and Myanmar: find us online, in restaurants, food markets and independent retailers across both countries.
