MEDIUM BLACK RICE 500 g

Oltresole Black Medium Brown Rice, with an ebony black grain, has a distinct taste and an aroma that strongly recalls the smell of freshly baked bread. In Black rice, as in Red Ermes, the unusual color is not obtained with artificial processes but is due to the natural presence of anthocyanins, powerful antioxidants found in many varieties of purple-blue fruit and vegetables. Its aroma and taste are decidedly more intense. After cooking it takes on a characteristic aroma of freshly baked bread and the particular taste makes it suitable to be consumed on its own, without elaborate condiments. Being a variety of brown rice, it is rich in dietary fibers which are essential for the well-being of the intestine and the proliferation of bacterial flora. Like other types of rice, it does not naturally contain gluten. It is excellent as an ingredient for the preparation of rice salads, with raw or sautéed vegetables or together with legumes. Some ingredients that go well with wholemeal black rice are lentils, avocado, tuna, shrimp, fresh salmon. Unfortunately, its cooking takes a little longer than other types of rice (about 40 minutes), but the result will certainly be worth the wait.
